Jewellery Box

My vintage jewellery box
This is one of my favourite jewellery boxes (loving jewellery and collecting it tends to mean that you need a lot of storage space!). It was another good old Ebay find for a good price. It is made out of scuffed and battered green leather that just exudes history. What I fell in love with most is the fact it still has its own key and working lock, quite a rarity for any box with a bit of age behind it. I am trying to keep the two together, I'd hate to end up locking it for good.
As you can see it holds quite an eclectic mix of items stretching from brooches I was given as a child to a shell found on a beach in Spain (which was later squashed by my boyfriend. He very thoughtfully pieced it back together though). Although a lot of the jewellery in here is not what I would class as my "everyday pieces", I still love to open this box to have a good old rummage every now and again. I find its cluttered appearance just too inviting to resist and often I discover the odd earring or charm that I forgot was even in there.
I will be writing some more posts about some of the items in this box, but for now I just wanted to share with you some of the charm this overcrowded little box holds. Perhaps you should have a peek inside your own jewellery boxes tonight, its not just the jewellery within it that can tell you a lot about yourself.
