I Hate When I Misplace Things

So if you follow me on Twitter you may have seen that today I have found one of my favourite rings after I had pretty much given up all hope I would ever find it again! So so happy :) I have to say (touch wood!) that I'm usually pretty good at not losing things, I generally only tend to misplace stuff in my room/car/boyfriend's house. Although this is annoying, I am grateful that at least I am able to hunt these objects down later on. After all there is nothing worse than knowing you have lost something whilst out shopping or on a trip or wherever, when your heart sinks at the thought you won't be able to find the ring/phone/purse, just horrible!
.
Needless to say that I am so relieved I found this gorgeous ring, I haven't been able to find anything similar. When it turned up in a tiny old leather ring case I have at the back of one of my drawers (I think I must have put it there as I deemed it a safe place!) I knew I just had to do a post about it.

Vintage Skull Ring

.
Anyway, I bought this tiny skull ring through Ebay, a couple of years ago now, from a shop in the Netherlands that makes custom skull jewellery and other items using old jewels and antiques. As well as animal rings, I am a complete sucker for skull jewellery. Although I do like some heavy silver skull pieces I particularly love tiny, daintier skulls. I suppose they are just a bit softer on the eye.
.
The skull itself is encased in a piece of perspex. It has tiny diamond-like eyes that glint at you when they catch the light. The stones that frame the skull have a grey tint, which combined with the gold and silver metal work, gives the ring a similar feel to the mourning jewellery made in the Victorian era.
.
I love the fact it is completely unique, I think the few months apart has made me appreciate thins ring even more. I also love that a lot of the time, people don't even see the skull until closer inspection. A few of my friends, and my mum in particular, aren't too keen on the whole skull jewellery idea, so it's nice to see that even people who don't love skulls can love this ring too.
