A Little Bird Told Me...

Sorry for the blurry background on these photos. I have literally just taken super quick pictures as I really wanted to blog today but have lots to do!
.
I bought this antique bird watch fob from my all time favourite antique jewellery shop, Cavendish in York. If you are ever nearby you must, must, must at least have a browse in their window to see what amazing treasures they have for sale. I usually end up having to be dragged out of there by friends or family when I go shopping as I just never seem to tire of looking at what they have to offer. They have three rooms, with cabinets lining every wall, full to bursting with jewellery and watches and as an added bonus they have a second floor (which admittedly I only ventured up to last week!) full of antique paintings and furniture.
.
I went on Saturday with my boyfriend Alex, my best friend Daniella and her boyfriend Rob to have a look to see if there was anything I liked the look of for my 21st birthday (it's not till after Christmas but I like to start dropping some hints early on!). The plan was to point out a few items I liked to Alex so he has some idea of what to buy me as a present. But true to form I fell in love with two rings they had for sale. One was a white gold and diamond eternity ring, shaped with flowers that wrapped around your finger. It was so pretty but sadly it was just too big. As the diamonds were right round the ring it would be impossible to resize. Just as I had given up finding anything I really loved, I took one last look in the window and found the ring. I won't go on about it too much now, I'll just mention that it is French, Art Deco (my fave!) diamond, platinum and gold. We both fell in love with it so much that instead of leaving Alex to his own devices, we decided that it was exactly what we had been looking for. It is now tucked away and needless to say I am counting down the days till 2nd January.
Sorry went off on a bit of a tangent there, back to the watch fob...
.
This lovely little piece I picked up about a year or so ago. They are traditionally suppose to be added to a pocket watch chain, however I think they look just as lovely worn on a necklace or bracelet. This one I love in particular as it has a great piece of tiger's eye stone that sits on a swivel mechanism just below the two gold birds. The swivel fobs, I think, were quite popular and so they seem to pop up a lot, but I haven't yet seen another one like this with the two love birds on the top. As soon as I saw it I was reminded of Annina Vogel's jewellery (if you missed the post I did about Annina see here) but I have to admit I spent no where near the same amount to achieve, what I think, is such a similar style.
.
I have another swivel fob that my Grandma bought me for my birthday last year which I love just as much, it actually has three sides, with three different stones, instead of just two.
.
They really do make great pieces to collect (or presents!) as they range greatly in style and price, so you can pretty much find a fob to suit everyone.
